Akio Toyoda formally introduces the Toyota Tamaraw’s return

Toyota Motor Corporation Chairman Akio Toyoda personally introduced the return of the Toyota Tamaraw to the Philippine market during his speech at the celebration of Toyota’s 35th Anniversary held at the Grand Hyatt in Bonifaci Global City,

 

“I truly believe this is a product that can enhance the quality of life for many people and provide new economic opportunities,” said Toyoda.

 

Toyoda led the unveiling of the Next Generation Tamaraw concept model. “At Toyota, we believe people come first. We believe in building cars to serve the real-life needs of our customers,” he explained.

 

The Next Generation Tamaraw will be the third completely knocked down (CKD) model to be produced at TMP’s Santa Rosa plant which also manufactures the Vios and Innova models.

 

The introduction of the LCV line will help sustain TMP’s production operations, while localization of the model will also allow TMP to respond to the specific conversion requirements and specialized needs of Philippine customers.

Toyoda proudly announced that the Philippines is the 10th largest selling market for Toyota in the world.

 

He said this is one if the reasons why they decided to created this additional P4.4 billion investment in the country.

 

“I’m very proud of the fact, that in 2024, for the first time ever, IMV vehicles such as the Next Generation Tamaraw, will be produced right here in the Philippines at our Santa Rosa plant. This represents an additional investment by Toyota of P4.4 billion,” Toyoda added.

 

Toyoda expressed gratitude towards President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for bringing up the idea and supporting the manufacture of the Tamaraw in the Philippines.
